Petr Zoubek

My name is Petr Zoubek, and my career in cynology began in 2000 when my family and I got our first Vizsla, Aida, thanks to whom I quickly developed a keen and lasting passion for cynology. From there, I became interested in training dogs and trying out various training techniques. At first, I learned on my own dogs, and eventually I began training others. 

It wasn’t long before a two-year-old Setter bitch named Gordon came to us, and with her I achieved my first meaningful successes, namely the prestigious St. Hubert Individual Hunt. At the time, I was already training other people’s dogs for competition in water, forest, and versatility tests and was participating in various memorials and field trials. In 2003, I founded my own kennel called VIA LUCIS and bred my first litter of Vizslas. 

When in 2008 we moved from the city to the countryside, where we had a large garden, it was clear that the pack would begin to grow. So, when a Croatian breeder of Vizslas offered me two talented bitches, I didn’t hesitate. I enjoy working with dogs from different countries and breeding programmes.

In addition to shows, trials, and hunts, I began taking part in more field trials here at home and mainly throughout Europe. I was doing great in the discipline, and that motivated me to keep going. I’ve more or less continued in the trials, and that’s how I try to rear my dogs. My greatest achievement to date came in 2016 when I won the World Pointer Hunt Championship in Denmark. 

I’ve worked with dogs long enough to know that the key to success is good condition, and my dogs have it thanks to the dog foods of Brit, so I’m pleased to be one of the ambassadors of this special brand and eagerly promote it during my travels. So far, our kennel has successfully reared seven litters, and over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work with more than eighty different dogs, and I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of it. Today, my pack consists of eleven pointers – German, French, and Hungarian. Vizslas are my passion because of their wonderful personality; it’s why I currently have my fourth generation of puppies. In the last few years, the German pointers have become my favourite work partners. Every pointer is different, and that’s what I’ve enjoyed most about them for the last twenty years.
