Are you going on holiday and have to leave your pet behind? Use dog-sitting

If you are going for your holiday by car, you may be considering bringing another passenger with you. Your dog can be a great companion, so you don´t want to leave it at home. However, your time off by the sea might hide various obstacles, starting from a lengthy journey and entry bans at beaches to scorching heat. That’s why it might be the best solution to leave your furry friend at home. But not everyone has aunts or grandmas who can look after their pets.

If you are going for your holiday by car, you may be considering bringing another passenger with you. Your dog can be a great companion, so you don't want to leave it at home. However, your time off by the sea might hide various obstacles, starting from a lengthy journey and entry bans at beaches to scorching heat. That’s why it might be the best solution to leave your furry friend at home. But not everyone has aunts or grandmas who can look after their pets.

Last year when I was preparing for my holiday, I was dealing with this problem as well. I love Roza and it was very difficult for me to leave her at home. And it was even more difficult because noone from my family or friends could take care of her. So I started researching dog hotels. But the price for such accommodation was a bad surprise to me. It ranged in the amount of several hundreds of crowns per day/night. The final price is significantly influenced by the range of services. After my experience, I recommend you reserve the accommodation for your pet well in advance.

One of other possible options instead of dog hotels are people who offer to take care of dogs on the Internet. But be careful and only look for pet keepers with sufficient experience and good reviews from previous customers. Do not leave your doggie with an incompetent person. I personally recommend meeting the person beforehand and discussing all necessary issues. This option is usually cheaper than dog hotels, even though it has its disadvantages of course.

I chose a third option in the end. I am active in a Facebook group where we give advice to each other, share experience and deal with all sorts of problems related to dog keeping with other members. I even know some of the keepers personally from various meetings, events and exhibitions. So I decided to find a temporary asylum for my Roza among the members of our group. I wrote a post and couldn’t believe how many people were willing to take care of Roza.

Eventually, I made a deal with one keeper I know from group meetings. I took Roza to his place on the given day and I myself left for a 10-day-long holiday. Every day, I got a great number of photos with my more than happy companion. After my holiday, I went to pick up Roza and everything was all right. It felt great for me to try this and I can calmly recommend this way of dog-sitting to anyone.
