Happy and healthy life thanks to cats

Most of us dream about having a long and happy life, and ways to ensure it have been sought for centuries. Recent scientific studies, however, suggest that the answer has been right before us all along: Our cats, in addition to being nice companions, have a significantly positive influence on our health and well-being. What magic do our cats possess and which aspects of our lives do they affect positively?

Cats repay human behaviour

Sayings that dogs are more stable pets than cats are no longer true. Cats are close to their owner not only when they are in the mood or when they want to. This is also confirmed by research that has shown, for example, that cats repay their owner’s behaviour. So, if you love your cat and show your affection enough, the cat will be very warm to you as well.

Cat as a cure for depression

One of the superpowers cats have is that they are able to change the energy in the entire room and have a positive effect on human health. Several studies have focused on this aspect and brought very interesting results. For example, they showed that people who own a cat are up to five times healthier than those who do not. In particular, cats have a beneficial effect on patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or people suffering from depression. Cats can lower blood pressure, and according to a 10-year-long study, the pressure of a cat reduces the risk of heart attack by up to 30 percent.

Trying to relieve problems

In addition, experts claim that cats can sense a spot in the body that is currently unhealthy. For example, if cats sit near your head, it is likely that they sense tension there due to migraines or high blood pressure, and if they snuggle at your feet, they may sense that you have cold or low blood pressure. With their presence, they are trying to absorb your ailments.

A cure to improve mood

Cats also have a great influence on human psyche, as cuddling with them is demonstrably calming thanks to the reduction of oxytocin, a hormone that can lower your stress levels and anxiety. After just a moment of cuddling with a cat improves the mood of people and reduces the level of depressive feelings.

Relaxation thanks to purring

Purring is considered by experts to be a cat superpower thanks to which they have no problems with bones, among other things. It is these gentle vibrations that may be the reason why cats can withstand much more than other animals – they can survive falling from a great height without a scratch. Studies show that cat purring has a beneficial effect on people and their psyche and physical well-being. For example, it can alleviate severe migraines and relieve other local pain.
