Wet food as a suitable travelling alternative

We have an active and healthy lifestyle. Or at least we try to have. In relation to that, we don’t only think about our own food but also about our dogs’ food. The trend of barfing has already come to the Czech Republic, too. It is a method of feeding based on raw meat. The word “BARF” comes from “born again raw feeders”. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of barfing in another article. Today, we will discuss what is good travelling food, no matter if you are a fan of natural diet or not :).

We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of barfing in another article. Today, we will discuss what is good travelling food, no matter if you are a fan of natural diet or not :).

When you are planning some journey, you will definitely need to take care of feeding your dog while travelling sooner or later. It largely depends on where we are travelling and how and how big our furry friend is. Also, the conditions for food storage are very important and you have to decide if it’s not better to buy food in your destination. This means a risk that the change won’t be good for your dog and it could suffer from stomach problems.

Holistic dry food ensures complete nutrition for your dog when travelling but if you have a large furry friend and are going for a longer trip, it could mean you would need a full bag. So, it doesn’t matter if you feed your dog with dry food or you are for example a fan of barfing, canned food is a good alternative. Quality monoprotein meat cans provide everything a dog’s organism needs when travelling thanks to a high content of meat and all necessary vitamins and minerals.

Moreover, cans are perfect for travelling. Because simple is good, the cans today have a simple use. They are quite compact (at least compared to a bag of dry food :)). They survive almost anything and they have long life. 100% meat cans and also salami can be kept in room temperature which is a big advantage. Another advantage is that you can buy them in various doses in grams according to the food ration needed for your dog. That means storage and transport are just fine.

One of the disadvantages may be their weight if travelling only with a backpack and by public transport. But this is a disadvantage mainly compared to dried meat than to dry food. Some may also say that cans are quite expensive. On the other hand, I personally like to pay a good price for quality and I don’t skimp on our dogs when I know it’s an investment into quality. Quality cans should contain a precisely stated meat or more types of meat, a side dish – in a perfect case potatoes or sweet potatoes, fruits or vegetables and herbs, but also salmon oil which is rich in omega fat acids.

But don’t forget to try if this novelty will suit your furry friend before you travel.
